Collage Animals Project

Artists use quirky collage papers to create trendy, cool, frame-worthy art for your walls.  Learn about color balance and the power of “white space”.

Materials needed: Two 8.5 x11" print-outs of project per artist on thick white paper (one to collage/paint on, one to "frame" the piece), miscellaneous collage papers, glue sticks. Optional: paint, crayons, colored pencils, markers

Simplify: Have younger students color in the animal shape using paint, crayons, oil pastels, or colored pencils. Younger artists will need help cutting out their animal shapes and gluing on top piece  // Elevate: utilize the same collage papers in multiple pieces so they tie together visually, then frame together as awesome wall decor.

Take it further: come up with your own animals to compete the series: turtle, fish, deer, etc.

Conversation starter: "How can I use the papers or paint to make it look like my animal has a nose/beak/tail?"
