Mini Nesting Trees Project

Create a little forest for the tiniest of elves! These small nesting trees are super fun to create, and make an adorable addition to your holiday decor. Kids love to stack them, and they are a wonderful place to hide tiny candies and treats. These little trees are quirky and imprecise, and that's part of what makes them so awesome.

Materials needed: Nesting Trees template printed or copied onto regular copy paper, acrylic paint, crayons, markers, oil pastels, glue stick, clear tape. Optional: glitter or glitter glue.

Simplify: Print onto regular copy paper. After younger artists paint, grown ups cut into circles, twist, and glue/tape // Elevate: print on thicker paper, use tiny brush for details, and finish with a coat of gloss varnish or medium to seal.

Conversation starter: How will something painted on a flat circle look when it's curled into itself and is standing up in a cone shape? Take a look at the sample design ideas provided and use them as a starting point.

Note/Take it a step further: this project can be used year-round, not just for Christmas and winter! Artists can draw or paint birds, flowers, woodland animals, moon and stars, or use unusual, dreamy colors. To create a uniform look, repeat the same 4-8 colors in your batch of trees.
